Geoblazer: Work continues

Posted by: n3x15 on: September 25, 2009

Decided to work on Geoblazer (my terrain management toolset) today and get the terrain generation crap out of the way. I am now successfully able to take Ridged Perlin Noise, apply a custom silt accumulation algorithm (if desired), and apply that terrain to the simulator automatically.

Should have it ready for retail before college starts up next month.

[FlexLife] Windlight, Meet SilverLining

Posted by: n3x15 on: September 13, 2009

Screwing around with SilverLining, an environment API that offers full 3D volumetric clouds and asskicking visuals.

I also just added this to FlexLife.  Screenshots coming soon, having minor linking issues with the nVidia Cg Toolkit.

[QT Mall] Close to Opening

Posted by: n3x15 on: September 11, 2009

I’ve been screwing around with some land that a good friend has given me, and have decided (with permission) to open a convenience store right next to Combat Crater. The shop, once completely finished, will sell all kinds of weapons and HUDS for users, including some of my own frankenscripts and (eventually) different interceptors for QHUD. At the moment, all of the Quantum Products line are available to purchase, in addition to my new Tachikoma avatar.

Oh, right, I forgot to mention that the Tachikoma avatar that I’ve been screwing with for the past few months is now available for purchase at Quantum Terra, as well. Features cloaking, color/shine customization, and invisiprim hiding options for those that use 1.23 viewers. Also a big, explosive lobbing cannon.

PICTURES:

Still has that new plywood smell

Still has that new plywood smell

Blah blah blah visit Quantum Terra to buy it.

Meerkat’s Database Tab

Posted by: n3x15 on: September 2, 2009

For those of you wondering what the hell the “Database” tab in the preferences of Meerkat is, here’s your solution to the mystery.

Don’t bother trying to get it to work, it’s apparently deader than a doornail anyway.

LuaEngine – Git Respository Available

Posted by: n3x15 on: August 30, 2009

The Lua scripting engine for OpenSim (which currently only runs on Windows due to library dependencies on .NET) is now available on GIT SCM:

git clone git://www.nexisonline.net/lua-engine/

Configuring LuaEngine should be relatively easy, as it’s enabled by default in OpenSim.ini.example. LSL, C#, and other languages supported by other engines have been disabled until a code translator for Lua can be written.

Events in Lua are the same as they are in LSL. In addition, LSL functions and OSSL are (should be) included with the additional Lua functions.

Lua cannot support states at this point.

Example Lua Script:

--[[
  Keep in mind that events are actually FUNCTIONS in Lua.
  It's hacky, but it (should) work.
]]--
function state_entry()
  local RegionName = llGetRegionName()
  local RegionCorners = llGetRegionCorners()
  -- Note: print is equivalent to llOwnerSay.
  print (RegionName.." ("..RegionCorners..")")
end

Keep in mind that this is a work in progress and is very very buggy. In fact, it’s barely operational at this stage.

LuaEngine for OpenSim – WORKS

Posted by: n3x15 on: August 26, 2009

The following is output from a running OpenSim process that is running the new LuaEngine scripting module.

16:42:43 - [REGIONMODULE]: Adding scene Sandbox to non-shared module LuaEngine

In laymans terms, this means that Lua is a working scripting language on OpenSim.  It also means I can add new features to test on FlexLife, such as Lua DataShares and UI stuff.  I may even screw with meerkat a bit.

Today is the dawn of a new age of content in OpenSim:  Fast, reliable scripts with real array and class support.  You can even process an image with Lua, construct a mesh, mess with physics, etc.  Everything is customizable.  Best of all, this engine is custom-tailored for OpenSim, supporting existing LL-functions and OSSL functions (and events) in addition to Lua-specific functions and events.

SVN/GIT available soon.

FlexLife Delayed

Posted by: n3x15 on: August 24, 2009

FlexLife development has been stopped for now, and for multiple reasons.

  1. FlexLife is currently based off of Emerald.  However, due to licensing issues and douchebag developers, I am going to create a fork of Emerald with a more open developer community.  FlexLife will no longer be based off of Emerald, it will be standalone.
  2. I am swamped with other projects, in both IRL and SL.
  3. I need to get LuaEngine for OpenSim into a somewhat stable form so I can test a client-server communications stream for both Lua engines.
  4. I do not currently have enough bandwidth to support many FlexLife clients, so I will eventually have to rent bandwidth from someone.
  5. I do not have enough C++ experience to fix some of the threading issues in FlexLife’s Lua engine right now.

Until other developers step forward to help me figure this shit out,  FlexLife is delayed until I can come up with my own solutions.
