Linden Lab keeps giving proof that they are simply too unpredictable. Add the worst customer service and heavy "user-base underestimating (miss)communications" and you begin to see why it is impossible to create healthy business plans. That is why RLRL and RLSL businesses, and a lot of older users, are moving out of SL.
Mostly thanks to Linden Lab incompetence, more and more people are finding their way to Opensim based worlds like OSgrid. I predict 2010 will be the big exodus year for Second Life. Revolution will happen as Opensim (opensource) software has become so much better during 2009. Wanna see for yourself? Download the "Hippo" or "Meerkat" viewer and you can simply enter Second Life or any Opensim based world with a few clicks. It will only be a matter of time before you switch the default world away from SL :)

Well, the problem is, is that when ever you try to search for cheap things, IE: let's say a teddy bear, you'll almost always have to sift through a pile of freebie crap, or very poorly built items.

I'm not really sure this will hurt small businesses, since all you have to do is sell something less cheap to offset the fees. You also have to own a parcel of land to host your delivery server at, so somehow you have to be making money.

I do have to disagree that freebies are promotional items, since a lot of people give away OpenSource things through SLX, such as Emerald's LSL radar. ( https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&MerchantID=309463 )

Over all, I do not think it's a good idea to add in these fees. I think it's just an excuse for LL to nickel and dime people to death.

Oh, and Nexis: The LL vendor service was just a proposal, LL was asking people what they thought, and yes, it is a horrible idea. LL should instead be directing their efforts towards fixing SL, not adding more stuff to it. (And not to mention making adding more fees to it)

FlexLife is merely going to be Second Life - LL's crappy rendering engine hellhole + OpenScenegraph + Lua scripting. It's not going to be a griffer client.

You not heard the worse, they killing out the small retailers on x streel sl now. A compulsory listing fee for all items, even if you sales are rare and small. A charge on all items you decide to give away.... yes you are being penalized for giving away items for free. And a charge for selling items for L$1 too... While these changes are welcome for big sellers as it forces out the competition for monopolizing the market.

The wonders of LL never ever cease to amaze. Seriously though. It's only a matter of time before they let the teens in (it was afterall the reason for Zindra right?) then as the servers grind to a halt under the extra load, they will sell to google or M$. Mr Rosebritches is set for life no matter what!

N3x15 or Fred, I honestly prefer to call you Fred. I whole heartdly agree, becuase LL will never do jack about copy botting untill they are 100% forced to. A shitty little protest will do nothing. Oh and btw the only item on sl i would ever bother copy botting is the bitchin hat you wear.
