RE: NeilLife [Updated with Sources]

For those of you living in a cave the past few months, a guy named Neil threw together an Emerald clone and added some exploits. He ran around naked for a while until yesterday, when Soft Linden swiftly delivered a firm boot to Neil’s ass by replacing an asset Neil’s users routinely steal with an object that phones up the Lindens and tells them who to ban. 50 morons were removed from the genepool.
A dramatization of what happened to Neil's ass
Neil, having his assbones crushed into a fine, snortable powder, proceeded to cry and shut down NeilLife altogether, showing defeat. In the meantime, he posted an incredible amount of whining on his blog, claiming that he and his users was banned for no reason. “No reason” apparently means “grabbing copyrighted material while using exploits that can get his ass jailed for illegally breaking into computer networks”. This isn’t even the stupid copybotting stuff, which makes a copy of the shape of the object, Neil actually told the server to deliver an object he wasn’t supposed to receive. Illegal under U.S. computer crimes laws, without any reasonable doubt.
Neil was not immediately available for comment.
To all those out there: Please send Soft Linden money for beer. He deserves it for being a cunning SOB.

For those of you wanting to verify this story, my sources are at least 3 very credible individuals who verified that Soft Linden replaced the object in response to a SEC JIRA regarding the nature of NeilLife’s exploits. In addition, Neil removed a post on his blog containing the asset UUID (used to be here). As it is a SEC JIRA, I’m not entirely sure I should be disclosing names.

FlexLife is my own little frankenviewer with Lua scripting and a broken volumetric cloud deck. I haven’t updated it since Emerald 1.23.4.420.

What you probably dont relise is that many of the people who are top creaters in SL have been hired as a Linden over the years, or are friends with another creater who was hired.
When you set out to exploit top end products that real life people are selling to pay their real life rent, you are going to piss off a few Lindens.
Once you have done that you can expect them to be watching everything you do on their servers, and banning you and your customers very quickly.
You do relize that Linden Labs can now formally have you charged with CyberCrimes. You have left them a trail right to your door. You do relize what you are doing is clasified as a criminal offence, don’t you? You have also exposed all the people who used your viewer exploits to the same criminal charges. I wonder how many of them will willingly give evedence against you to save their own butts?
The 1987 U.S. Computer Security act, the more recent Patriot Act, and the Digital Melenium Copyright Act give the FBI, NSA, CIA, and Homeland Security the ability to lay charges at the federal level against anyone who violates a computer on the internet. You knowingly and deliberatly violated the Linden computer network for the purpose of stealing restricted information. That is a federal offence.
And before you try to reasure yourself that linden Labs dont care enough to pass the information onto the federal police. Remember your victims are pushing Linden Labs to make an example of you.
According to the 2002 Federal Sentencing Guidelines you can expect to spend about 100+ months in jail for what you have done.

Thats because Neil is wanker, idiot and retarded fuck who keeps trying to clean his “reputation”(!?!?) with idiotic “TOS” included in his viewers. On the other hand, hes selling his private viewer (mainly Cryolife clone and i can put my left nut on stake with this statement) for about 60$.
I also happen to know the guy who tipped Andy about his Hippo vend included in “free-to-rape” box who reported that to him about 4-5 hours after exploit has been posted.

I’m happy to note that it seems like the PN are ticked off at Neil for apparently stealing their code and passing it off as his.

Well yes they did…And hate that guy’s guts. Once i dropped on chat something about his browser, and they jumped on me as im him. Luckily even english isnt my native language, somebody noticed that i couldnt be him since i can actually make sentence that make sense 
Frankly, i have never heard of Neil life(till recently). Been using shooped for quite a bit. Then, there was this announce on PN about new sweet viewer and all(which will never hapen publicly anyway). Frankly, couldnt care less for stealing Pamela Anderson skin or other crap like that, just wanted slim viewer that will not hog like wounded snail. Eventually, noticed post by Rofl i think about stealing sauce which quite frankly matched expansion of his “private” viewer pretty much. Now, since i do watch PN blogs and ex. forums, i have never seen them whining about anything actually, so really cant see point why would they accuse that dork for stealing their code. Not going into it but so far that idiot never posted v5 sauce on his site, and keeps claiming that he did. Oh and comments in v4 sauce is amazing. You should get it and check it out, almost like his blog…

n3x15 member of the PN that got banned 25 times, that makes and hands out griefing scripts,copybot and shoopedlife, complaints about neillife viewer is totaly fake.
And the truth is everyone and i mean everyone would like to have backup option in they’re viewer .Don’t you mr n3x15?

I use viewers with back up options yes i do but just to give some of the clothing i bought to my alter avatar .

I think back up clothings and stuff should be allowed so long as its for personal use and not for selling .
If some one tries to sell copied stuff that should be a crime because they want to make profit of the creators work .

ShoopedLife didn’t have backup abilities, it had a crappy interface with Copybot which wasn’t even remotely finished.
Copybot was merely made to work with the latest LibSL so people could run it, and I fixed a few minor bugs.
I stopped development on both projects after I left the PN in December 08. So yes, I do have a right to bitch.

Oh, and the right to back up your own items, provided that you have created them yourself, is legal. However, if you are backing up clothing you have purchased by someone else, it is illegal in SL (LL doesn’t care if it’s a personal backup).
And I got banned more than 300 times, according to my older computer’s application settings folder.
